I know some of you will be well aware of this already but thought I'd post this suggestion anyway.

Just added Robinson Crusoe and Alice in Wonderland to my library from Google Books. Apparently they've made loads of classics freely available to read online. (Ok I know it's not the same as physically owning the book, but it's FREE!)
